To facilitate and coordinate the deployment and to promote the use of Next Generation Internet by public benefit institutions, to facilitate advanced networking, to advance learning and research capabilities, to improve health services, and to develop educational and cultural services for the good of Palestinian society as a whole.
Goals
To prepare Palestine for the use and development of global Next Generation Internet.
To achieve qualitative and quantitative improvements in how to conduct research and engage in teaching, learning, and other Public Benefit applications through Internet2.
To create educational networks that will act to provide broader access to education for all Palestinian citizens
To develop tomorrow’s intensely networked applications requiring High Bandwidth, Low Latency, and True Multicast in applications such as: telemedicine, virtual laboratories, 21 st Century schools, and 3-D animations.
To promote the use of an important tool of the global Next Generation Internet, namely interactive video over the network and to promote and develop mainstream use of stored, live and real-time interactive video in public benefit institutions working in the fields of education, research, culture, government service and health in Palestine.
To develop and make available shared pools of technical and human resources for demonstration and public awareness programs on the use of advanced internet in various applications.
